Madeleine Is Sleeping: A Novel by Sarah Shun-Lien Bynum [in AsianWeek]

Madeleine Is SleepingOne of the more intriguing, original novels I’ve come across in a long time – although I can’t really tell you what happened because I still haven’t figured it out. Presented in curious snippets, the story centers on a child, Madeleine, who is sleeping and isn’t to be disturbed while a whole other world of seemingly disconnected dreams comes to life. Someone let me know when you figure it all out.

P.S. Just announced: The book is a finalist for the National Book Award.
