Im Kwon-Taek: The Making of a Korean National Cinema edited by David E. James and Kyung Hyun Kim [in AsianWeek]

Im Kwon-TaekAn essay collection that originated from an Im Kwon-Taek film festival/conference at the University of Southern California in 1996. Amazingly enough, this is the very first English language title on South Korean cinema. More are certain to follow, given the much-deserved international acclaim Im has received since his lavish 2000 rendition of the Korean folktale, Chunhyang, and the way Korean films seem to be the it-films of the foreign festivals crowd.
