Dancer Dawkins and the California Kid by Willyce Kim [in What Do I Read Next? Multicultural Literature]
Dancer Dawkins is searching for her lover Jessica. Little Willy Gutherie is searching for a new life as the California Kid. They collide on a San Francisco road which sets in motion a chain of events that includes meeting a mind-reading Korean American chef and her killer dog, saving the country’s vineyards, and rescuing Jessica from a dubious cult.
A rambunctious comic novel, much in the style of a short Tom Robbins creation. The adventure continues in Kim’s 1988 sequel Dead Heat.
